Collection: Francis Ford - Men of Leisure photographs

Scout Gallery is devastated to hear of the recent passing of Francis Ford, an incredibly kind soul, endlessly fascinating character and one of Milwaukee’s most talented photographers/artists.

We are honored to share a collection of five 13” x 19” color photographs from Men of Leisure, the acclaimed exhibition by Francis Ford and Jack Eigel that premiered at the Portrait Society in Fall 2011. Link in bio.

We (Jeff and Dana) had the privilege of working closely with Frank in 2018 on installing his WMSE Calendar show at RedLine Milwaukee. It was an incredible show where you could really feel the respect and admiration people had for him and his work. He was deeply loved and will be deeply missed.

This special collection of photos was generously donated by Frank’s close friend, Carol Rode-Curley. Proceeds from each purchase will support local arts in Milwaukee and benefit the Wisconsin LGBTQ History Project.

RIP Frank

This collaboration between the photographer Francis Ford and Milwaukee’s well-known man-about-town Jack Eigel began in 2000 with an exhibition at Kent Mueller’s now defunct KM Art Gallery. The second iteration of the project, “Jack’s Dolls” was in 2003 and the third, “Dairyland Divas and Dandies,” was in 2006 (accompanied by a book).
This new body of work emerges from the span of five years that have passed since Dairyland Divas and Dandies, a time in which both Jack and Francis suffered life-threatening health crises.
