"Political Siege" art by Dara Larson exhibition runs August - mid-October
Democracy is a legacy near and dear to our identity as citizens. Social forces such as media, political theater and conspiracy theory are strongly challenging beliefs and values which have been a core of the democratic fabric. Rhetoric fueled by the speed and constancy of political commentary or news call for people to complete their own research of sources of information. As an essential tool against tyranny citizens , need to remember and record key points of a purposefully chaoticized information system aimed at power acquisition. Justice, honesty, community efforts and effective political processes and citizen actions also need to be recorded as a positive reaction for a change.
This art is often focused upon heightened new cycles and seeks to capture small details that will be lost over time as new challenges and opportunities continue to cascade into our current attention.
It is a siege of information that impacts our politics unless we have chosen to avoid the writing on the wall.
